So I decided to be all crafty and make homemade “washable”finger paint today… I know, be impressed! This all stemmed from Leighton’s recent discovery of pens! She loves them and wants to scribble with them constantly. She is as good as a 15 month old can be at keeping her artistic expressions on the paper, but she throws a fit when I take the pen away from her….someone has to be the critic! So, trying to be a good parent and foster my child’s current interest, I made paint (you all know that is bull right… I was just trying to find something to kill 30 minutes of our day!) Well, my nieces are going to start school soon... Hayden will be in 2nd grade and Campbell is starting Kindergarten…so Leighton painted them good luck cards! Here is how it all went
down…
Making the paints…
The outside of the cards… the insides were blank so
the Munchkin could have full artist freedom.
Turns out LC wasn’t totally into painting at
first, so I got her creative process started with a few paint clumps…
Starting to feel it…
Totally into the art…
Final products!
This one she calls “puppy face with bow”,
And this one she titled “kitty head with two
fish”.
The artist and her masterpieces… she is totally
wiped out from pouring her emotions and soul into her work!
Until Later…
Awesome. I've never seen homemade paints before!
ReplyDeleteThat last picture..she's totally both of you.
There are tons of recipes online! I used one made from corn starch.... It is more jelly like.... But next time I am going to try a flour based recipe! It was super easy and cheap!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks.... We call her a "combo kid"!
