My best friend got married!!!

Allison Wooley, or better known to my college friends as “my best friend Allison” got married this past April!!!  I was honored to be one of her matrons of honor and join in her day of celebration!  She married a guy, Christian Scacco, who we went to high school with which is crazy… but they are absolutely perfect!  I could not have picked a better match for her!  So here is how the Wooley wedding week went down…

Bachelorette party… Lexi (the other matron of honor) and I hosted a bachelorette party that was only fitting for Wooley… an Austin scavenger hunt!  One of the stops was at the Zilker train
(only Allison would be cool with this!)

And SNO BEACH of course.  Allison and I spent 9 years of our lives at this sno cone stand together… if I lived in Austin I would still be working there, no doubt about it… best job ever!!!

Next came the bridesmaid luncheon…
Allison with her Trinity ladies…

“My” Sally, Sherry (aka. Momma Wools) and my Mom.

Hostesses with the gorgeous bride... thank you Sally for all your hard work!

Sherry will kill me for posting this picture, but it might be my favorite picture of all time… Sherry is emotional and Allison’s expression is priceless!

Next came the rehearsal dinner and Mrs. Scacco did not miss a single detail!
This night made it apparent as to how amazing this couple is and how much they mean to and are loved by everyone they encounter!
I always forget how much l love and miss my high school friends until I hang out with them again…
Al, MJ, Kelly G and me…

Sords, me, Paige and Kelly g…

Then it was the “BIG DAY”!

Me and the bride…
The matrons of honor and the bride… Lexi is amazing by the way!
Momma Wools and her sister… Aunt Susu!
The stunning bride and her poppa!
The ceremony was amazing and then it was time to enjoy everyone’s company… high school prom poses...

Trennis and I in our Prom 2012 picture…

Two new parents – one teething baby = crazy times

Allison and Christian were escorted away by a local fire truck… which happened to be truck #22. If you know anything about Allison you know what a crazy coincidence that is!

The newlyweds!!!!

And what is a newly married lady to do a few days after her wedding?.… hangout at the Buda weenie dog races with her friend of course!

Thank You Mr. and Mrs. Scacco for an amazing rehearsal dinner and Momma and Poppa Wools for a fantastic Wedding and reception!  I could not be happier for Allison and Christian.  They are an amazing couple based on love and friendship and I know they will stand the test of time.

But Christian… if you ever screw my best friend over…
sleep with one eye open son…
Just kidding... or am I?!?
Have fun on your honeymoon this week… love you both to pieces!

The Salt Lick

There is one thing that we miss more than anything in Dubai… TEXAS BAR-B-QUE!!!!  There is nothing like the taste of some good old smoked Texas meat.

Well, about a month before we headed back for our last trip home, Jon got a hankering for some Salt Lick Barbeque.  So he emailed my brothers and my dad to schedule an all you can eat binge fest.  Now, Jon is not a planner and the boy almost never emails his own family… let alone the in-laws… but he was on a mission… a mission for meat!

Plans were set and the first weekend we were back in Texas, literally a day after our flight landed, we headed out to take on the Salt Lick and introduce our off spring to one of the greatest things on earth!  Jetlag is a B… so little L didn’t get to enjoy the pre meal festivities.  However, momma had a cold beer so all was right with the world and Pa got some cuddle time, so he was feeling good too!

Someone woke up just in time for the carnage to take place… She was a little excited with all the build up from her dad and all!

The  Salt Lick PIT behind us.

Leighton was patiently waiting for her food like a lady… then this happened…

OH MY GOD THIS IS SOME GOOD $**#!

Anders: “Good God cousin… I have never seen a baby eat that much… slow down you she beast!”

Leighton : “ Stop judging me baby Anders, just because you aren’t old enough to eat this yet... just wait sucker!”

Can I eat the bone too?

Barbeque does make you sleepy though… we failed to mention that to our daughter!

And just to make sure we really did need wheelbarrows to roll us on out to our cars… blackberry cobbler for dessert!  Why not, right?!

Pearl hugs after dinner… but then wait, who is that I see over there?  Could it be the former All-time winningest Quarterback in college football history… no that guy is too short… NO wait, it IS him…

COLT McCOY!  Leighton is totally impressed… can’t you tell?

I hate those people… the ones that run up to athletes and/or celebrities to get a picture with them… and now I am one of them!  However, I don’t think I ever had a choice in the matter.  My husband was literally pushing me towards poor Colt and my dad was shoving his burnt orange camera in my face… it was for the baby right? That is a memory frozen in time people... i just wish munchkin had a bow in her hair!!!

Bueller.... Bueller....

Whoops, I mean Mueller… Mueller…

Sorry for being MIA with the blog.  When I go home to the states I don’t take pictures so I rely on my friends and family to give me theirs.  Everyone is really good about sending them my way but by the time I get them I am wrapped up in trying to get back into a normal routine in Dubai and the pictures and blog get put on the back burner…. Well that is one reason but…

Who am I kidding… I got immersed in reading the Hunger Games books.  I know they are for teenagers but I am obsessed and have spent any extra time I have reading.  I am almost done with the third book and then I can focus my time on the blog… so I promise in the next week to post about… Texas, Arizona, the Wooley/Scacco wedding, Leighton’s birthday parties (yes parties plural), Paris and more….  I pledge to be a better blogger just as soon as I finish this last silly book!

Ragamuffin converted...

So it finally happened… I have been fighting it for some time now but I gave in after pressure from the mother in law and friends… I CUT LEIGHTON’S HAIR!  Well, that is a little dramatic... It was more like a trim than a cut!  I wanted laylay’s hair to grow out so I can braid it or put it up in a high pony but reality hit me today when a friend said it looks kind of thin in the front... well, it is more like a weird Eastern European/Alabama mullet thing she has going on… long on the top/back and short on the sides!  To top it off, I realized today that Leighton has learned how to blow her bangs out of her eyes...  So it was time!

Here she is with the before baby do on daddy’s lap…

And the After… I think she looks so different!

I think she looks like a goober, a cute goober mind you, but it is much better than the want-a-be emo ragamuffin look she had going on before… Truthfully though, I am excited that I don’t have to keep chasing her around with a gosh darn bow in my hand that she is just going to rip out of her hair two seconds after I put it in!  We will adopt the “NO BOW, NO GO” motto (thanks mon and erin for that one!) as soon as she is a little older and can truly understand.  I won’t let her forget she is a bowhead from Texas just living in the desert for now!

By the way, our trip home was awesome… ill post about all our adventures once I get pictures from everyone since I didn’t have my camera!

Of Course, obligatory cute pictures of Leighton taken by the grandparents!

We had a great time with Chuck and Linda and can’t wait to see them very soon in Arizona when Jon’s Grandma Rice, Aunt Shea and Uncle Bob get to meet Leighton for the first time!
